The Upper Falls of the Yellowstone River

While on our way up to see the upper falls, we saw this grizzly bear and her two cubs playing on a hill.  It was so fun to see the cubs chase after their mother and mimic her.

The beautiful upper falls of the Yellowstone river.
We took a short hike to see the falls more closely...and yet when we reached the end the trail, it was closed for repair.  So we didn't get another view, but we did capture some fun pictures of the family... As if we hadn't taken enough yet on this vacation!
Eden had her "Cheese" on!
This herd of buffalo was crossing the road and we finaly got an up close view of those darling calves!

On the banks of Yellowstone Lake at dusk
I don't think the kids had ever seen a phone booth...come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I saw one! Oh, where would be without our cell phones!

Our Yellowstone trip was amazing. The beauty of the area combined with the abundance of wildlife was definately a wonderful experience for our kids.  We hope to return soon!

Fishing With Pop!

It was time once again to try our hand at fishing. Since the FireHole river had been successful earlier in the week, we went back to the same hole and started pulling those fish out!
Quinton is turning into quite the fisherman!

Carson also had success again during this fishing trip!
...just a little one!
The boys caught this little frog while playing on the bank!
Beautiful afternoon!
This little black bear was just hangin' out on the road side holding up traffic as we drove back to camp!  It was our first bear sighting up close.  We'd seen them from distances earlier in the week but this one was close enough for all of us to see!

Fishing Bridge and Old Faithful

We had to stop off at fishing bridge, since we were staying at the Fishing Bridge RV site.
This old bridge extends across the Yellowstone river as it flows out of Yellowstone lake.  It is the spawning site for the Yellowstone cutthroat trout and back in the day was "the" fishing spot.  However, to protect the fish the bridge has been closed to fishing for years.  But you can still stop and view those cutthroat as they pass under the bridge.  Jon just gets a thrill anytime he can spot fish in their natural habitat!
She's still holding tight to her "buttalo!"
He could use a hair cut!
Then we headed back to Old Faithful for one more visit.  Eden had been requesting the return trip all week.  Then when we arrived she had no patients for waiting on the geyser's blast!
Thar she blows!
It was a really windy afternoon, and just as the geyser blew a huge wind gust hit.  Even though we were standing quite a bit away from Old Faithful, we got sprinkled with geyser spew!  Ewwwwe!

Yellowstone Falls

Breathtakingly beautiful Yellowstone Falls!

Look who's stuck holding the "buttalo" now!
A sweet treat after a long day of viewing God's beautiful work!
